# Signals

> Choose the topics and evidence that make a qualified lead relevant.

Open **Targeting** > **Signals** to review the Signal Brief that guides discovery.

Describe the problems, topics, or buying situations connected to your offer. Keep them specific enough to recognize in public activity. Review suggested topics before saving them.

## Read a lead's signal

| Label | How to interpret it |
| - | - |
| **Warm** | A direct signal relevant to your offer. |
| **Related** | Contextual evidence related to your offer. |
| **Activity** | Observed activity with a weaker connection to your offer. |
| **ICP match** | Fit information without a recorded signal of the other types. |

These labels describe signal strength. They are separate from the ICP match score and the source that brought the person into traxy.

Open a lead's **Signals** tab to inspect recorded observations and available source links. Use the evidence actually shown when drafting a message. A missing signal does not prove that someone has no interest.

## Improve discovery

Change topics when the results consistently point to the wrong problem or audience. If the people themselves are wrong, revise [Lead criteria](https://docs.traxy.ai/discovery/lead-criteria.md). Use [Tracking](https://docs.traxy.ai/discovery/tracking.md) to add relevant profiles or specific posts.
