What is different in SaaS
SaaS outbound is crowded. Buyers get too much generic outreach, and buying decisions often involve multiple stakeholders. That makes signal quality more valuable. When a lead engages with a problem your product solves, you can be specific without guessing.Signals that matter most
Prioritize in this order:- Comments on a problem your product solves
- Multiple people from the same account engaging with related topics
- Repeat engagement from a decision-maker
- Engagement around competitor or comparison content
- Fresh role changes for strong-fit leaders, especially when paired with topic engagement
Best channel and timing
Use email first when the ICP fit and signal are both strong. Use LinkedIn first when:- the signal is lighter
- the engagement happened on LinkedIn
- you want a lower-friction opener before sending a fuller business case
Messaging angle
Lead with the problem they engaged with, not your product. Good angles:- a problem pattern you keep seeing in similar teams
- a short operational observation
- a practical takeaway that makes the issue easier to frame internally
Multi-thread the right way
If multiple people from one company engage, do not send the same note to everyone.- send the most senior contact a concise email tied to business impact
- send a lighter LinkedIn note to a more junior or hands-on contact
- keep the topic consistent, but adapt the angle to the role
Suggested sequence
- Day 0: email to the primary contact
- Day 2 or 3: LinkedIn touch for the same contact or a second stakeholder
- Day 5: follow-up email with a different angle or short example
- Day 8 or 9: short close-the-loop follow-up
Example email
Common mistakes
- treating every like as a buying signal
- sending the same message to every stakeholder
- pitching features instead of the problem they engaged with
- ignoring account-level patterns when several people from one company are active
What good looks like
- your best signals come from comments, repeat engagement, and company clusters
- hot signals outperform stale ones
- multi-threaded accounts outperform single-threaded outreach when the account fit is strong
